The judgment of 22 November 2022 of the Court of Justice will certainly have an impact on the information available in the register of beneficial owners in the various Member States. Indeed, it declared invalid with regard to the right to respect for private life and the protection of personal data the provisions of Directive (EU) No. 2015/849 of 20 May 2015 (known as the 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive} amended by Directive (EU) No 2018/843 of 30 May 2018 (known as the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive) of 30 May 2018 (known as the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive) providing for access to the general public of information on beneficial owners.
